* SABC in South Africa and some 80 Hallmark channels have in separate deals purchased season one of Intelligence from Daro Film and Thunderbird Films. The Chris Haddock crime series will air on Hallmark outlets in Australia, Scandinavia, Italy, the U.K., Israel and elsewhere.
* Nelvana Enterprises has inked a series of deals for its Di-Gata Defenders, selling the 26 x 30 action cartoon to TF1 and Nickelodeon in France, and to RaiSat in Italy. Another 26 eps are in development.
The Toronto toon house recently signed California-based The Game Factory (Miss Spider Scavenger Hunt) to make a Di-Gata game for the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP.
At MIPCOM, Nelvana also signed a licensing deal for its Ruby Gloom property with OLC/Rights Entertainment in Japan. A line of clothing, accessories, stationery, health and beauty products will arrive in 2007 to go with the 40 x 30 cartoon, now in production for YTV and others.
* Beta Film in Germany has bought the international handling rights for The Trojan Horse, the follow-up by Whizbang Films to its 2004 mini H2O.
* CHUM International has signed a deal with Takhayal Entertainment to develop MuchMusic Arabyeah!, a satellite music channel aimed at the Mideast to be run from the recently launched Citytv Beirut.
* YTV has bought the newly debuted Thumb Wrestling Federation (shorts totaling some 180 minutes) from MTV Networks International, to run both on air and online.
* Brightlight Pictures has optioned the Michael Slade thriller Headhunter, and has signed Patrick Lussier (White Noise 2: The Light) to direct a script by Wil Zmak (The Dark Hours).
* Hiltz Squared Media has optioned Colour of the Puck, the life story of the first black NHLer, Willie O’Ree, with plans for an MOW.
