Imported Artists has resigned its relationship with l.a.-based rsa usa which the Toronto shop had been representing in the Canadian market for about six months.
rsa is owned by directors Ridley and Tony Scott, and has offices in l.a., New York and London.
In a period of less than a year, the u.s. spot shop has switched Canadian representation from International Shooters – where they had been for six years – to Imported Artists and now back with International.
According to Imported Artists president Christina Ford, this is the first time her company has ‘resigned’ a roster and says rsa ‘showed an incredible lack of interest in the Canadian marketplace.’
Ford adds her communications with rsa often went unanswered, which she says was extremely frustrating and disappointing.
rsa usa managing director Linda Ross confirms that Imported Artists did resign the business but adds rsa had planned to make the move anyway; she says the problem was too few boards.
‘The Canadian market is becoming increasingly important for both creative and financial reasons,’ says Ross. ‘We felt we did not see very much board flow and the few things that did come in never materialized. Sometimes it’s just not the right fit.’
International Shooters president Pamela McNamara says her company had an arrangement with the u.s. prodco in which she exclusively repped the rsa roster in the Canadian market. When the roster switched over to Imported Artists, rsa’s Peter Bloomfield stayed with International Shooters.
Over the last couple of months, Allan Van Rign followed Bloomfield and soon the rest of the roster followed him.
rsa’s roster consists of Ridley Scott’s children Jake, Jordan and Luke, in addition to James Cox, Chris Cunningham, Thomas Dey, Laurence Dunmore, Josh Gordon and Will Speck, Chris Hartwill, Thom Higgins, Hugh Johnson, Marek Kanievska, Adrian Moat, Marcus Nispel, Jack Price, Dawn Shadforth and Spencer Susser.
