The Partners’ Film Company head Don McLean has been seen headed toward the Labatt Breweries of Canada offices sporting a proposed deal and his best suit.

As Labatt divests itself of its broadcasting and production properties in the wake of the impending Interbrew buyout, McLean is reported to be in the thick of negotiations with Labatt principals for ownership of the company he built.

Details of the negotiation were not available at press time.

New system increases efficiency

Midwest Television’s twin stations – ctv supplementary affiliate citl and cbc affiliate cksa – in Lloydminster, Alta. are reporting greater efficiency since switching to Avid Technology’s AirPlay playback systems for live commercial insertion.

Ken Ruptash, Midwest gm, says the stations have eliminated tape and maintenance overhead and dramatically approved the broadcast quality of commercials.
