Alberta Film and TV Awards winners

The tv series North of 60, coproduced by Calgary’s Alberta Filmworks and Toronto-based Alliance Communications, was the big winner at the 21st annual Alberta Film and Television Awards, held March 11 in Edmonton.

The series, shot in Calgary, walked off with eight Rosies, including best of festival.

Surprise winner of the evening was industry newcomer Joel Stewart, who took home four Rosies – and raves from the judges – for the short, Five Reasons To Give, produced by Edmonton-based Vicom Multimedia for the United Way.

The awards, honoring the best in Alberta filmmaking and sponsored by the Alberta Motion Picture Industries Association, were broadcast live on ACCESS Network from Edmonton’s Sherwood Park Festival Place.
