jennifer harknessVeteran factual executive Jennifer Harkness has joined Blue Ant Studios as its new SVP of unscripted content.

In the L.A.-based role, Harkness will be tasked with developing, producing and selling unscripted projects in the U.S. and internationally.

She will work alongside Blue Ant Studios’ SVP of scripted content Dan Lubetkin. In a statement, the company said the “two senior roles strategically position Blue Ant Studios to increase development and production of premium projects with American-based partners and platforms in both unscripted and scripted genres.”

Blue Ant Studios is Blue Ant Media’s global production division and consists of production companies from Canada (Saloon Media, Look Mom! Productions), the U.S. (Blue Ant Digital Studio), Singapore (Beach House Pictures), Australia (Northern Pictures), the U.K. (Antenna Pictures) and New Zealand (NHNZ).

On the unscripted side, Blue Ant Studios’ production credits include the recently greenlit remake of the U.S. reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race. The first season of the Canadian adaptation (10 x 60 minutes) was commissioned by Crave in June, with cameras set to start rolling this fall. Blue Ant Studios optioned the remake rights from L.A.-based World of Wonder, which produces the original.

Most recently, Harkness served as SVP of sales and development (U.S.) at Cream Productions (2015-2019), where she worked on projects including Dictator’s Playbook and Fear Thy Neighbor and helped build out the Toronto-based prodco’s U.S. operations. She has also previously held roles as co-founder of Jumpwire Media (2012-2015), head of factual at Temple Street (2010-2012), executive director of the Banff World Television Festival (2005-2008) and production executive for Global Television Network (2000-2003).
