Deals: Forte, Super Channel, Cineflix Rights

Steve Harvey's East 112 options Forte's Snapshots, while Cineflix Rights sells a raft of crime and investigation titles to international broadcasters.

Steve Harvey’s East 112 has optioned Forté Entertainment’s unscripted format Snapshots for the U.S. market. Created by Forté’s Andrea and Mitch Gabourie, the series sees kids go head-to-head in photography challenges, with their peers and a celebrity mentor deciding who wins each episode’s prize. Originally produced for CBC Kids in Canada, the series won the prize for non-scripted entertainment at the International Emmy Kids Awards last year. Mitch Gabourie told Playback Daily that Forté and East 112 will soon begin pitching the format to U.S. broadcasters.

Super Channel
Super Channel is bringing esports and gaming series Squad to its GINX Esports TV Canada channel through a newly inked deal with Canadian esports company Northern Arena. Squad is an hour-long series that delves into the lifestyle of various personalities in the esports world. The Mississauga, ON-shot series premieres on GINX Esports TV on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. It is produced through the production arm of Northern Arena.

Cineflix Rights

Cineflix Rights has inked a raft of deals with broadcasters for projects on its crime and investigation slate like Homicide: Hours to Kill, Secrets of the Morgue and more. For instance, Foxtel Australia and TF1 France have acquired Deadly Deception (6 x 60 minutes). Produced by Cineflix Productions for Investigation Discovery (U.S.), the series follows real-life stories of everyday reunions that end in murder. Foxtel Australia and A+E Networks Germany’s Crime + Investigation channel have also picked up season two of Homicide: Hours to Kill (26 x 60 minutes, Cineflix Productions for A+E Networks U.K.) and Secrets of the Morgue (13 x 60 minutes, Cineflix Productions for A+E Networks U.K.). Season two of Homicide was also sold to Canada’s Bell Media, while TV4 Sweden bought season one of the crime show. Additionally, RTL Germany’s NITRO channel and Crime & Investigation Network Iberia nabbed the second season of Secrets of the Morgue.

Other sales include: Ted Bundy: Serial Monster (4 x 60 minutes, Hoff Productions for Reelz U.S.) to A+E Networks Asia, DirecTV Latin America, Crime & Investigation Network Iberia, UKTV and A&E Germany; Children of the Snow (4 x 60 minutes, Cineflix Productions for Investigation Discovery U.S.) to TV4 Sweden and the NITRO channel; seasons five to eight of Unusual Suspects (52 x 60 minutes, LMNO Productions for Investigation Discovery U.S.) to RMC Découverte; and finally, the documentary White Boy (90 minutes, Transition Studios for Starz U.S.) to the NITRO channel, Planète France, Foxtel Australia and DirecTV Latin America.
