Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) has revealed the 100 participants set to take part in the 2019 Diversity of Voices initiative.

Established producers named to the program include Hungry Eyes Media’s Jennifer Holness, LoCo Motion Pictures’ Lauren Corber, Generation Text Productions’ Courtney Graham and Nu-Media Films’ Jordan Molaro.

Meanwhile, emerging participants include Code Breaker Films’ Sonya Ballantyne, director Winnifred Jong, Jonathan Lawrence, Moniquea Marion and Kelly Saxberg.

Diversity of Voices is a development and training program through which underrepresented creators receive individual mentorship opportunities at the annual festival. It is held in partnership with Netflix, the Canada Media Fund, SODEC and Canada’s Indigenous Screen Office. This year the number of applicants doubled to around 500, according to the festival’s executive director Jenn Kuzmyk.

The festival also named the 25 participants set to take part in the inaugural Diversity of Voices Pitch Program.

Among those chosen for the pitch program are recent WGC award nominee Caitlin Fryers, Just For Laughs ComedyPRO pitch competition winner Leah Cameron, NSI Totally Television winner Sarah Goodman, director Monique Hurteau and writer/director/producer Roxann Whitebean.

The program is held through the Diversity of Voices initiative, a development and training program for underrepresented creators – both emerging and mid-career – to receive individual mentorship opportunities at the festival.

The other participants are Eric Baril, Caitlin Benton, Jesse Cardianl, Catherine Chagnon, Andree-Anne Frenette, Chantale Galimi, Joadie Jurgova, Beatrice King, Judith MacInnes, Dianne Mahoney, Moniquea Marion, Sara Martins, Denis Paquette, Emily Pickering, Fanny Rainville, Lea Rondot and Marion Transetti.

The Banff World Media Festival runs from June 9 to 12. The full list of the Diversity of Voices participants is available here.
