Renée Beaulieu’s Les Salopes or the Naturally Wanton Pleasure of Skin has sold to Japan’s AT Entertainment and Germany’s Atlas Film.

Produced by Les Productions du Moment, the feature written, directed and produced by Beaulieu, follows a wife who must confront the consequences of her actions when a scandal threatens to shed light on her extramarital affairs.

The deal was inked at TIFF by Andrew Noble, VP of theatrical and home-video releasing at Filmoption International, which is handling global sales.

Ian Quenneville (Le Monde Est Petit) and Ian Oliveri (En Cavale) serve as associate producers on the film. Robert Lacerte (Iqaluit) was a consulting producer on the project.

Les Salopes or the Naturally Wanton Pleasure of Skin, which recently made its world premiere in TIFF’s Contemporary World Cinema program, is a follow up to Beaulieu’s first full-length feature, Le Garagiste (also known as Adrien). Also produced by Les Productions du Moment and released in 2015, Adrien follows a man who runs a garage in a small Quebec town, whose kidney is failing.

Beaulieu was recently selected as a nominee for the Canadian Media Producers Association’s Kevin Tierney Emerging Producer Award.

The film stars Brigitte Poupart (Les affamés), Vincent Leclerc (The Fall of the American Empire), Nathalie Cavezzali (Nitro Rush), Romane Denis (19-2), Louise Portal (The Barbarian Invasions), Sophie Clement (A Gift for Kate), Josephy Delorey (Mutants), Normand D’Amour (Adrien), Paul Ahmarani (Mars et Avril), Charlotte Aubin (Blue Moon) and Pierre Kwenders, who makes his debut.

Les Salopes or the Naturally Wanton Pleasure of Skin was produced with the financial assistance of Telefilm Canada and the participation of Radio-Canada.
