CMF, Northern Ireland launch three-year copro incentive

The joint incentive will provide a total of $600K over three years for TV and digital media projects.

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Northern Ireland Screen (NIS) have partnered to create a three-year copro incentive for producers in Canada and Northern Ireland.

The Canada-Northern Ireland Co-Development Incentive For Audio-Visual Projects will provide $600,000 (approximately £330,000) over three years in support for the development of digital media and TV projects, with the CMF and NIS splitting the cost.

The initiative was announced during an event at Sunny Side of the Doc this week.

The maximum contribution for each project is $50,000, with funding determined on a case-by-case basis. CMF or NIS contribution will not exceed 75% of their respective budgets.

All projects will be evaluated by a committee made up of representatives from both organizations.

Eligible TV projects must be in the drama, doc, animation or education categories or must fall into the section of digital media content like webseries, video games, transmedia projects, virtual reality or augmented reality. In addition, projects must have one Canadian producer and one Northern Irish producer, while projects must meet guidelines from both organizations.
