The Banff World Media Festival is proud to announce that NBCUniversal will be honoured as the Company of Distinction at this year’s annual festival, from June 10-13, 2018.

One of the most influential television executives of the decade, Robert Greenblatt became Chairman of NBC in 2011 and returned it to #1 in the 18-49 demo where it has remained for five consecutive seasons. This season, NBC has also earned the title of America’s most-watched network with an award-winning line-up that includes This Is Us, Will & Grace, The Voice, America’s Got Talent, and many more.

Greenblatt also oversees Universal Television studio which produces over 35 series for NBC, Fox, Netflix, and Hulu among others. A Golden Globe and Tony-winning producer, he also ran Showtime and was a top executive at Fox, shepherding ground-breaking content that has changed the television landscape.

Kevin MacLellan is Chairman, Global Distribution and International, NBCUniversal. He is responsible for oversight of NBCUniversal’s global distribution and international new media and television businesses, as well as identifying and executing international growth opportunities for both NBCUniversal and Comcast Corporation outside the U.S.He is accountable for managing commercial and corporate affairs in 36 offices with over 2,600 employees.

MacLellan oversees free, pay and new media licensing deals across the US and to more than 200 territories internationally with a portfolio of 120,000 TV episodes and 4,500 feature films. Under his leadership, Global Distribution has secured long-term licensing deals with key partners such as Sky, RTL, Alibaba, Altice, and Televisa as well as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon.

With over 20 new media businesses worldwide, MacLellan runs digital strategy and operations for NBCU International. He conceived of and launched the reality on demand SVOD service hayu in the UK in 2016. hayu has now launched in seven countries and continues its successful global expansion.

In addition, MacLellan spearheads the portfolio of international channel brands which includes Syfy, Universal Channel, E!, Bravo and Telemundo, among others, where he is responsible for creative and commercial strategy, including ad and affiliate sales, and channel operations. These global network’s deliver quality content to 165 territories in 35 different languages across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia.

MacLellan also oversees NBCUniversal International Studios, which produces over 1,100 hours of original premium English language scripted and non-scripted content for audiences worldwide such as the award-winning drama Downton Abbey. It also operates a global formats business, which licenses and produces NBCU content in over 70 territories.

Previously MacLellan served as President, International Television and before his role at NBCUniversal, he served as President, Comcast International Media Group & Comcast Entertainment Studios.

NBCUniversal will be a focal point during the festival’s four-day program. More panels, keynotes and master classes featuring this world-leading company will be announced soon. NBCUniversal will also receive the Company of Distinction award at BANFF’s Rockie Awards Gala on Tuesday, June 12.
