Nelvana signs raft of cross-platform deals

Amazon UK and Cinedigm are among the new VOD, linear-TV and in-flight entertainment partners for shows like Backyardigans.

Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana has signed a range of deals across VOD platforms, linear TV and in-flight entertainment in the U.S., the U.K., Canada and Latin America.

Heading to Amazon UK are Backyardigans (pictured), Mr. Young, Little Bear and Life with Boys, while Babar, Pippi Longstocking, Rescue Heroes and special programming for Franklin are landing on Pure Flix in the US. In addition, Cinedigm in the U.S. and Canada has picked up The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, George and Martha, Rescue Heroes, Pippi Longstocking, Braceface, Wayside and Elliot Moose.

For linear TV, Accessible Media in Canada has signed a deal for Babar, and SRC Canada has picked up Ranger Rob for French-speaking Canada. In Latin America, Television Entertainment grabbed Backyardigans Extension.

Nelvana has also signed a partnership with Spafax Inflight Entertainment and Air Canada that will bring its shows to new heights. The in-flight entertainment deal includes Backyardigans, Fairly Odd Parents, Max and Ruby, The ZhuZhus, Ranger Rob, Little Charmers, Maggie and the Ferocious Beast, Trucktown, Franklin and Friends and Scaredy Squirrel.

The sales come not long after Nelvana bolstered its management team by hiring licensing and entertainment industry vets Peter Crighton, Kelly Elwood and Tonya Lindo.
