inks deal - ShutterstockToronto-based producer and financier Productivity Media has inked a first-look deal with Vancouver’s Liquid Media Group that will see the companies collaborate on a minimum of five projects annually for the next three years.

The deal between the two companies calls for an annual production spend of at least $50 million on projects bound for a variety of platforms, including film, TV, virtual reality and gaming.

Canadian-born actor Joshua Jackson (The Affair), who serves as the chairman of Liquid Media, said in a statement that the partnership with Productivity is important for the growth of Liquid’s slate.

Headed by industry veteran Krysanne Katsoolis, Liquid is acquiring IP that it intends to develop and produce through its full-service production studio Waterproof Studios.

Productivity Media previously served as an executive producer and financier on Robert Budreau’s Chet Baker biopic Born to Be Blue, starring Ethan Hawke. The film was released theatrically in Canada in March 2016 through eOne. Productivity, headed up by CEO William Santor, is also an executive producer on Budreau’s latest feature project, the Canada/Sweden coproduction Stockholm.
