DHX Media’s online kids network WildBrain has been tapped to create an animated web series based on Icelandic lifestyle brand Tulipop.

Co-written by Tobi Wilson (The Amazing World of Gumball) and developed in collaboration with Ken Anderson of Edinburgh, Scotland-based Red Kite Animation, the series will launch with 2.5-minute episodes early this summer for kids ages seven and up. The content will live on a dedicated Tulipop YouTube channel, which will also be managed by WildBrain.

The series follows the residents of the island of Tulipop, which has moving volcanoes, beaches, mushroom swamps and strawberry fields. The story is derived from ancient fairytales of Icelandic heritage, and was created by illustrator Signy Kolbeinsdottir. The Tulipop design brand launched in 2010 and now includes books and character products.
