CTV raises the curtain on The Launch

The six-part music series, exec produced by John Brunton and Lindsay Cox of Insight Productions, is set to go to camera this fall in Toronto.

The LaunchCTV has unveiled a new music competition reality series.

The Launch is the first TV project resulting from the previously announced partnership between Bell Media and record executive Scott Borchetta, founder and president of Big Machine Label Group.

The six-part series will begin production in Toronto this summer. Casting is now underway, with a broadcast premiere set for 2018.

The international format, which features a group of unsigned musicians who are mentored to create an original song, went into development in January 2016.

It was co-developed by and is produced in association with Borchetta, Paul Franklin of Eureka Productions (The Biggest Loser), and Bell Media, in partnership with Toronto’s Insight Productions. Exec producers on the series are Borchetta, Franklin, and Insight’s John Brunton and Lindsay Cox.

The format will be available for global distribution by Bell Media Original Programming and Big Machine Label Group.
