Cameras are rolling in Toronto on Serendipity Point Films’ latest feature-length, Clara.
Written and directed by Akash Sherman (The Rocket List), the science-fiction drama stars Suits actor Patrick J. Adams (pictured) and Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars), with Adams playing obsessed astronomer Isaac Bruno, who searches for signs of life outside of earth’s cosmos, while his own life falls apart. Kristen Hager (Wanted) and Ennis Esmer (Miss Sloane) also star.
The Canadian film is produced by Serendipity Point in association with London, U.K.-based Distant Horizon, Telefilm Canada, the OMDC, CBC and Bell Media’s The Movie Network (TMN). CBC holds the TV broadcast rights to the film, while TMN holds the pay TV rights. Filming is scheduled to wrap before the end of the month.
Clara is produced by Serendipity Point’s VP of production Ari Lantos and executive produced by company EVP Mark Musselman alongside Distant Horizon CEO Anant Singh.
Lantos began collaborating on the project with Sherman when the latter was a freshman in film school.
Toronto’s D Films is handling theatrical distribution in Canada. The international rights to the project have not yet been sold.
Serendipity Point’s most recent film projects include Below Her Mouth, which premiered at TIFF ’16 and was later picked up by Netflix for the U.S., U.K., Australia, Israel, Italy, France, Spain; and Christopher Plummer-starrer Remember, which bowed at Venice festival in 2015.
