DHX Media, Australia’s A Stark Production and Paris-based Techicolor have greenlit a second season of half-hour children’s series The Deep.
The companies also announced that Australia’s ABC, Germany’s Super RTL, Canada’s Family CHRGD and Netflix in the U.S. will all return as distribution partners for the 13-episode second season.
In addition, DHX-owned licensing management agency CPLG has been appointed as the licensing agent for the property in multiple territories, including North America, Latin America and EMEA (excluding Germany).
In March, Technicolor, which hold the rights to the series, inked a broadcast deal with CBBC. The Deep also airs on YLE (Finland), SVT (Sweden), KRK (Norway), Okto (Singapore), Panada (Portugal), ABC ME (Australia) and is soon to launch on Ketnet in Belgium and Minika in Turkey.
Produced by DHX Media and A Stark Production, The Deep is a CGI-animated series based on the popular Gestalt Comics graphic novel series of the same name. Scriptwriting, design and music are handled by A Stark Productions while DHX handles animation, voices and post-production.
