Filming is underway in Hamilton, ON on the second and third Bruno and Boots TV movies, produced by Aircraft Pictures for YTV.
The new installments in the MOW series, This Can’t Be Happening At Macdonald Hall and The Wizzle War, are being shot primarily at McMaster University, with production set to wrap in early September.
Based on the Macdonald Hall book series from Canadian-American author Gordon Korman, the second and third installments are both set to premiere on YTV in 2017. Breakthrough Entertainment is handling international sales for all three films.
The MOWs are produced by Aircraft co-presidents Anthony Leo and Andrew Rosen (Raising Expectations), and directed by Vivieno Caldinelli, who also directed the first film, Bruno & Boots: Go Jump In The Pool, which was greenlit last summer. The screenplay for This Can’t Be Happening was co-written by Adam Barken and Mike McPhaden, while The Wizzle War was penned solely by McPhaden.
Returning cast includes Jonny Gray (Max & Shred), Callan Potter (The Other Kingdom), Peter Keleghan (Murdoch Mysteries) and Caroline Rhea (Sabrina The Teenage Witch), as well as Hannah Vandenbygaart (Make it Pop), Kiana Madeira (Really Me, My Babysitter’s a Vampire), Joshua Kilimnik (Backstage, Odd Squad), Drew Haytaoglu (Anne of Green Gables) and Isiah Lea (The Stanley Dynamic).
Also joining the cast for The Wizzle War are Kathleen Phillips (Mr. D, Sunnyside) and Matt Baram (Make It Pop).
The films are produced with the financial participation of the Canada Media Fund and Shaw Rocket Fund. Executive producers on the projects are Ira Levy, Peter Williamson, Nat Abraham and Mike McGuigan.
