Boat Rocker acquires Jam Filled Entertainment

The Toronto-based company continues its acquisition streak with the purchase of animation service studio Jam Filled Entertainment.

Toronto-based Boat Rocker Media remains hot on the acquisition trail.

The entertainment company today announced the purchase of 2D-animation service studio Jam Filled Entertainment in Ottawa, which joins other recent buy Radical Sheep, which now leads Boat Rocker’s kids and family content arm, and its minority investment in ani co Industrial Brothers.

Jam Filled’s founding partners, Kyle Mac Dougall (president) and creative directors Jamie Leclaire and Phil Lafrance, will stay with the company and retain their current titles, while Jam Filled operates under its current name, falling under the management of Boat Rocker CEO John Young. Boat Rocker intends to provide capital investment to help Jam Filled expand its 2D animation capacity and develop 3D animation capabilities.

Currently, Jam Filled houses 150 animators and is providing the service work on Radical Sheep’s upcoming animated comedy The Bagel and Becky Show, which is slated for Corus-owned Teletoon’s 2016/2017 lineup. Jam Filled is also the animation studio behind Nickelodeon’s The Loud House.

With the addition of Jam Filled, Boat Rocker further expands its offerings in the kids and family content space, adding to Radical Sheep (which has assumed production of live-action Family Channel hit The Next Step from sister company Temple Street Productions) and its recently established animation studio Boat Rocker Animation.
