Global, TFI greenlight Ransom

The Canada/France coproduction from eOne, Sienna Films and France's Wildcats Productions has also been picked up by CBS.

Camera picture from shutterstock_3723832Corus Entertainment’s Global and French channel TF1 have jointly greenlit Ransom, a 13-part drama produced by Entertainment One, Sienna Films and France’s Wildcats Productions.

The Canada/France treaty coproduction is executive produced by Frank Spotnitz’ prodco Big Light Productions, and will be shot in Canada and Europe.

Ransom is set to premiere next year on Global in Canada and has also been picked up by CBS in the U.S.

Starring Luke Roberts (Black Sails, Game of Thrones) in the lead role, the show tells the story of crisis negotiators Laurent Combalbert and Marwan Mery, who help government agencies and multinational corporations resolve conflicts and negotiations.

eOne holds the global rights to the series, except in French-speaking territories.

The series will be produced by eOne, Jennifer Kawaja and Julia Sereny of Sienna Films and Valerie Pechels and Odile McDonald of Wildcats Productions. Ransom was created by Canadian David Vainola (Diamonds, Combat Hospital) and Spotnitz. The show was co-developed by TF1 and Corus Entertainment, with participation from France’s Centre National du Cinema et de l’Image Animé and the CMF.
