Telefilm, Rogers invest $1.6M across six docs

Telefilm Canada and the Rogers Group of Funds have invested $1.6 million across six docs through the Theatrical Documentary Program.

The latest feature-length docs to receive funding support through the stream are Jennifer Baichwal and Edward Burtynsky’s Anthropocene ($600,000); Brigitte Berman’s The Gordon Pinsent Documentary ($75,000); Ann Shin’s My Enemy, My Brother ($141,810); Mark Achbar’s The New Corporation ($600,000); Julie Lambert’s Flying Sisters ($70,000); and Raymond St-Jean’s Movements – Louise Lecavalier ($110,000).

Telefilm contributed more than $1.08M across all six projects while Rogers contributed $508,405 towards three of them. Anthropocene and The New Corporation both received $400,000 from Telefilm and $200,000 from Rogers, while My Enemy, My Brother received $108,405 through Rogers and $33,405 through Telefilm.

The other three projects, Movements – Louise LecavalierThe Gordon Pinsent Documentary and Flying Sisters, were funded solely through Telefilm.

Since the fund’s inception, it has supported a total of 61 documentaries to the tune of $12 million.
