The TV world was stunned last year when Lewis was laid off from his longtime post at Bell Media’s Discovery channel, during the company’s restructuring last year.

Lewis has been named president at Great Pacific Media, the Vancouver-based factual producer of hit Discovery series like Highway Thru Hell. The company gains one of Canada’s most experienced broadcast execs in the factual space; prior to Bell Media’s restructuring, Lewis was president and GM at Discovery Canada for almost 13 years and held a number of executive roles at the channel prior to that.

In a statement, Lewis expressed his enthusiasm for the new post: “As a broadcaster I always admired the energetic leadership and ambition that grew GPM into Canada’s premier factual production company.”

Great Pacific Media, which also produces Airshow for Discovery Canada and Game of Homes for the W Network, was acquired by Thunderbird in December 2014.
