Portfolio Entertainment has launched Portfolio Animation, a 9,000 square-foot studio located in Toronto’s King West district.

The studio currently has three projects in its pipelines, according to a media release from Portfolio, including Freaktown. Portfolio Entertainment has also moved its corporate office to the studio facility, and is currently meeting with other co producers and global networks to secure more projects. The studio will be led by VP Production Julie Stall and head of studio operations Sonya Carey. Dave Beatty serves as the senior producer and showrunner on Freaktown.

In a release, the company said the studio is part of Portfolio’s larger expansion plan that kicked off in 2014 with the installation of a new management team to focus on growth and diversification. Past Portfolio kids productions have included The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! and DOKI.
