Production is underway in Montreal on Denis Côté’s latest feature film, Boris sans Beatrice (“Boris without Beatrice”).
Production on the Metafilms feature, which is both written and directed by Côté (“Vic and Flo Saw a Bear“), began July 22 and is set to wrap Aug. 24.
The project is Côté’s ninth feature film and was the recipient of a $760,000 funding boost from Telefilm Canada, via the Canada Feature Film Fund. Financial support also comes from SODEC, as well as Quebec and Canada tax credits.
Set for a 2016 release, the film will be distributed in Quebec by by K-Films Amérique.
The film stars James Hyndman (Trauma, Rumors), Simone-Elise Girard (Unit 9, The Boys) and Denis Lavant (Les Amants du Pont New, Holy Motors), as well as Dounia Sichov, Isolda Dychauk, Louise Laprade, Isambert Laetitia Denis, Roc Lafortune and Bruce Labruce.
Boris sans Beatrice follows Boris Malinowski, played by Hyndman, as he begins an affair while dealing with the grief of caring for his sick wife.
Sylvain Corbeil and Nancy Grant of Metafilms serve as producers on the film, with Jessica Lee Gagné handling cinematography with Côté.
