Mommy dominates Jutra Awards with 10 trophies

In a repeat of the Canadian Screen Awards, Xavier Dolan’s Mommy swept the Jutra Awards in Montreal on Sunday night.

The French-language pic won in all 10 Jutras, including best film, and best director and best screenplay for Dolan.

Mommy also dominated the acting categories, with Suzanne Clement winning for best supporting actress, Anne Dorval for best actress, and Antoine Olivier Pilon for best actor.

The best supporting actor prize went to Pierre-Yves Cardinal for his star-turn in another Dolan movie, Tom at the Farm.

The best cinematography and editing prizes also went to Mommy, a drama about a single mother and her troubled teen.

Other Quebec films had to make do with craft prizes, with Ricardo Trogi’s 1987 winning for best art direction, best costumes and best hair, while Stéphane Lafleur’s Tu Dors Nicole won for best sound and best original music.
