Universal Studios Home Entertainment Canada has signed a deal to release movie and TV product from Elevation Pictures domestically on Blu-ray and DVD.

The exclusive distribution pact, which takes effect immediately, will get underway with the Blu-ray and DVD release of the genre film Oculus on Aug. 5.

The NBC Universal division last year signed a distribution deal with rival D Films to release its film and TV product in both the physical and digital formats.

The deal with Elevation Pictures follows on the heels of former Alliance Films and Entertainment One executive Naveen Prasad joining the indie outfit run by co-presidents Laurie May and Noah Segal to oversee distribution, sales, and operations across all media.

The Toronto-based distributor’s upcoming release slate includes The Imitation Game, directed by Morten Tyldum, J. C. Chandor’s A Most Violent Year, and the Universal Studio film Incarnate by Brad Peyton.
