Entertainment One reports film and TV growth

Entertainment One on Thursday reported full year earnings are set to exceed management expectations.

“The directors remain confident in the outlook for the company and expect earnings for the financial year to be ahead of management expectations,” the Canadian-based producer/distributor said in a pre-close trading update issued to London Stock Exchange investors for the ten month period to Jan. 31 2014.

eOne reported revenues for the period rose 56%, driven by growth in film and TV.

“Investment in content and productions was higher during the period, with a strong schedule of film releases and television programming in place for the new financial year,” the company said in a statement.

Theatrical releases have included Now You See Me, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, American Hustle and Prisoners.

eOne reported it expects to release 270 films for the full year.

And the TV division saw revenues rise 34% compared to the prior year period, the company said.

Key deliveries include season two of Saving Hope, season three of Hell on Wheels and season four of Haven.
