Lindsay MacKay’s Wet Bum has added Working With Engels’ Natalie Ganzhorn and Jenna Nye to its ensemble cast.

Wet Bum stars Gordon Pinsent, Leah Pinsent, Craig Arnold and Julia Sarah Stone in the lead as a 14-year-old girl forced to work in a nursing home. As she struggles to make sense of growing up, she comes to learn about growing old.

The feature is currently in production in Toronto, shooting until mid-December.

Leah Pinsent (The Best Laid Plans), Jamie Johnston (Degrassi: The Next Generation)  and Diana Leblanc (The Samaritan) also star in the film that’s currently being shot in Toronto.

“I feel incredibly lucky to have found Julia Sarah Stone to play the lead. She is a phenomenal young actor who has an amazing understanding of the character’s nuances,” said  first-time feature director MacKay in a statement.

Wet Bum was selected to pilot the Pinewood Toronto Emerging Filmmakers Initiative on the strength of its producing/directing team, which includes producers Paula Devonshire, Lauren Grant, Daniel Bekerman and Sean Buckley. It is co-financed by Telefilm Canada, the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) and Super Channel. John Bain’s Search Engine Films is distributing the film domestically.

MacKay is an L.A.-based award-winning Canadian writer and director whose recent short film Clear Blue has screened at over 25 filmfests, with her Wet Bum screenplay reaching the Top 10 in the Zoetrope Screenwriting Competition.
