Hungry Hills‘ Leo Fafard has snagged the lead character in Wolfcop, the genre thriller from director Lowell Dean now shooting in Saskatchewan, the film’s producers said Monday.

Fafard will play Lou Garou and his titular alter ego, with Amy Matysio, Jonathan Cherry, Sarah Lind and Aidan Devine rounding out the ensemble cast.

The feature, set for a 17-day shoot in Regina and Moose Jaw, is the first film from the CineCoup film accelerator, and is executive produced by Bill Marks, J. Joly and Brian Wideen.

CineCoup Media has the Canadian and international distribution rights to Wolfcop, which is produced by Hugh Patterson, Bernie Hernando and Danielle Masters.

Cineplex theatres will release the low budget feature in 2014.
