April Mullen and Tim Doiron are stepping away from comedy to dark with their latest feature, 88, a revenge thriller now shooting in Niagara Falls.

After shooting three chucklers in The Way of the Tosser, GravyTrain and Dead Before Dawn 3D, the writer/director team is shooting the action pic about a young woman who arrives at a roadside diner with no idea where she is or how she got there, and then follows a revenge-fueled journey to find who was responsible for her lover’s death.

“Tim and I are really excited to step away from comedy this time around and focus on a completely different genre that’s new for the both of us,” said Mullen.

Doiron wrote and Mullen directs the Wango Films project that stars Christopher Lloyd, Katharine Isabelle, Jesse McCartney and Kyle Schmid.

The 20-day shoot to Nov. 8 comes ahead of a fall 2014 release.
