Toronto-based 9 Story Entertainment has sold animated series Nerds and Monsters to ABC TV Australia.
The series, greenlit by Corus Entertainment’s YTV, is 9 Story’s first acquisition under its expanded 9 Story Enterprises international distribution division.
Targeting six-to-11-year-olds, Nerds and Monsters features a group of tween castaways on an uncharted island who must use their smarts to survive attacks by the island’s inhabitants.
Vancouver- and L.A.-based indie animation studio Slap Happy Cartoons, founded by Kathy Rocchio, Greg Sullivan, Josh Mepham and Vito Viscomi, is producing the series.
The company is premiering a first-look episode at MIPJunior in October.
