NFB animated shorts win big at Annecy

SubconsciousPassword-1

Oscar-winning Canadian filmmaker Chris Landreth has won the Annecy Cristal award for best short film for Subconscious Password at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

The film is the latest from Landreth, who earned an Academy Award in 2004 for Ryan for the National Film Board of Canada.

Subconscious Password, which had its world premiere in Annecy, was also produced by the NFB.

And Theodore Ushev’s Gloria Victoria from the NFB won the FIPRESCI Icritics’ prize.

Ushev in 2010 won a special distinction in Annecy for his short film Lipsett Diaries.

And the NFB animated short Poppety in the Fall, by Pierre-Luc Granjon and Antoine Lanciaux, won for best TV special as part of an animated TV series that ran for four seasons.
