Montreal-based boutique animation house Sardine Productions has partnered with Paris-based producer Cyber Group Studios to develop Mia, a multi-screen pre-school series based on a brand of Montreal educational software developer Kutoka Interactive.

The partnership on the series, set to launch in 2014, includes Société Radio-Canada and TIJI, a children’s channel in France.

In the series (39 x 11 minutes), six-year-old mouse Mia is developing an awareness of others and learning the role that emotions play in everyday interactions.

“Mia is unique in that she is moving from computer to television screen while remaining true to what has made her so successful,” says Lisa Savard, the head of children and family programming at Radio-Canada, in a statement. “We are proud to have been part of this project from the onset of development to full production.”
