Breakthrough enters home entertainment arena
With online distribution continuing to make inroads, Breakthrough Entertainment has launched a home entertainment division to get its film and TV series product deeper into the market.
The indie producer is becoming an online direct-to-consumer distributor by introducing BreakthroughHomeEntertainment.com, initially in Canada, ahead of an international rollout down the road.
Nat Abraham, president of distribution at Breakthrough Entertainment, will head up the new division, which is going to market first with the primetime drama Less Than Kind, and two CGI documentary series, Greatest Tank Battles and Battlefield Mysteries.
BreakthroughHomeEntertainment.com will also distribute online theatrical features to emerge from the indie producer’s newly-established film sales division under Marina Cordoni, vice president of movies.
“Breakthrough’s programming has developed a strong following here in Canada and we believe that the establishment of Breakthrough Home Entertainment is the optimum way to address a growing appetite among fans of our shows who want to own our titles,” Abraham said in a statement.
