Logo picks up Shaftesbury’s Why Men Cheat
The Toronto-based production and distribution company has sold the one-hour doc Why Men Cheat, commissioned by the CBC, to Logo in the U.S.
Toronto-based production and distribution company Shaftesbury has sold the one-hour doc Why Men Cheat to Logo in the U.S.
Commissioned by CBC in Canada, the one-off is produced by Shaftesbury and investigates the motivations and science behind powerful men who put their marriages, reputations and careers on the line to have affairs.
The documentary is currently in production in Toronto, New York City, Los Angeles and New Mexico, and will premiere on CBC’s ‘Doc Zone’ strand in early 2013, and on Logo’s ‘What!?’ series.
“Why Men Cheat is the perfect combination of insightful fact-finding and edgy storytelling in its examination of this contemporary social issue,” said Shane Kinnear, senior VP of sales and marketing at Shaftesbury.
“We created the What!? Logo Documentaries series in response to our viewers’ craving for insight into outrageous social phenomena, and Why Men Cheat beautifully fits that rubric,” said Marc Leonard, senior VP of multi-platform programming at Logo. “We’re fascinated by the question of what drives this common overlapping behavior in powerful men who happen to be gay, straight and even closeted.”
Why Men Cheat is produced by Marc de Guerre and Sarah Galea-Davis, and executive produced by Rachel Low, Christina Jennings and Scott Garvie for Shaftesbury.
