CBC/Radio-Canada win rights to 2015 Pan Am Games
The CBC/Radio-Canada has scored the broadcast rights to another major amateur sporting event, announcing this morning that it has been awarded the host and domestic rights to the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games.
The deal includes the rights to broadcast the games on TV, mobile, online and non-commercial radio in English and French, according to a release. The Toronto 2015 Pan American Games run from July 10 to 26, 2015 and the Parapan American Games run from Aug. 7 to 14 .
“We are pleased to have been selected to partner with Toronto 2015. This is more good news for Canadians and the amateur sport community across the country and we are thrilled to connect viewers with these Canadian athletes on home soil in advance of the games in Rio the following year,” said Jeffrey Orridge, executive director, sports properties, CBC English Services, in the release. “As the host broadcaster, CBC/Radio-Canada will also bring the Pan/Parapan Am Games to the world, which positions us well for a revenue-positive outcome.”
The CBC was also recently awarded broadcast rights for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games and the Rio 2016 Olympic Summer Games and also signed on as a broadcast partner with Rogers Media for the Grand Slam of Curling.
