Alliance Films to release Big Hairy Movie
Alliance Films has acquired the domestic distribution rights to the David Hicks buddy comedy Big Hairy Movie, which has started shooting in British Columbia.
The all-Canadian production has Robin Nielson playing a junior executive from a large Toronto law firm who visits his hometown of Fernie, B.C. and reunites with old friends, played by Viv Leacock and James Wallis.
Big Hairy Movie is shooting in Vancouver and Fernie, with Katharine Isabelle, Karin Konoval and Garry Chalk filling out the talent lineup.
The indie pic is based on a story by Ian Simpson and Catherine Allen, with David Chiavegato and Richard Pryce-Jones penning the original screenplay.
The film is produced by Laurie Maxwell and Shel Piercy, with Jeff Sackman (American Psycho, Murderball) and Michael Baker executive producing.
Alliance Films plans an early 2013 release.
