TIFF12: OMDC unveils Canadian projects for festival financing forum
Projects by Canadian producers Mary Young Leckie, Kevin De Walt and Trish Dolman will be pitched during the Ontario Media Development Corporation-backed International Financing Forum at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
Leckie will sell international sales agents, financiers, distributors, agents, and executive producers on a biopic of the Canadian artist Maude Lewis, to be directed by Jean-Francois Pouliot (Seducing Dr. Lewis) and to star Rachel McAdams (Midnight in Paris, Sherlock Holmes).
And Dolman will be at TIFF with the comedy/romancer Hector and the Search for Happiness, with Simon Pegg to star and Peter Chelsom (Shall We Dance) to direct.
Elsewhere, De Walt is pacting with fellow producer David Cormican on a comedy/sci-fi/fantasy project Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede, to star Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite).
In all, 20 Canadian producers and 21 international producers will attend the financing forum at TIFF, to take place on Sept. 9 and 10.
