Survivorman returns to Discovery Channel

Discovery Channel is bringing back adventure series Survivorman, airing to two one-hour episodes which will kick off in August.

The survivalist series stars Canadian filmmaker and adventurer Les Stroud (pictured), and originally aired for three seasons on the U.S. cable network between 2005-2008.

Produced by Stroud’s Survivorman Productions, the new specials see him dropped into a remote wilderness locale for 10 days with no food, water or film crew.

In the two upcoming episodes, which will air on Aug. 19 and Sept. 2, he lands on the uninhabited Mexican island of Tiburon and battles the elements in the Norwegian mountains.

In all, he has visited 23 locations and spent 170 days alone on his survival trips.

Executive producers on the specials are Stroud and Discovery’s Joshua C. Berkley.
