TMN acquires Jacob Medjuck’s Summerhood from Breakthrough

Astral’s The Movie Network has picked up writer/director Jacob Medjuck’s feature Summerhood from Breakthrough Entertainment’s newly-launched film sales division.

The licensing deal for the camp comedy, which is narrated by John Cusack, will see Summerhood debut on the Astral pay TV network after a film festival circuit run.

The Canadian indie, which stars Joe Flaherty, Jesse Camacho and Raquel Alessi, portrays four longtime friends on the cruel cusp of puberty and the summer season.

Summerhood earned the best feature award at the San Diego Film Festival, the best feature comedy at the Maui Film Festival, the audience award at the Atlantic Film Festival and two wins at the Canadian Comedy Awards.
