Anger Management makes an Olympic debut

Charlie Sheen will be setting off his own set of fireworks right after those for the London Olympics’ closing ceremony this year, as CTV has announced that it will debut the actor’s new sitcom, Anger Management, following the conclusion of the Games.

The sitcom follows Sheen as a non-traditional therapist who specializes in anger management.

The Bell Media-owned channel plans to air a preview of the show’s pilot episode in all time zones (7 p.m. EST) on Sunday, Aug. 12, after which an older fan favourite episode (starring Sheen) of Two and a Half Men will follow.

“The opportunity to stunt launch Anger Management immediately out of our London 2012 coverage is a scheduling dream, setting the series up for massive sampling and success,” said Mike Cosentino, senior VP, programming, CTV Networks, in a press release.

“We believe this strategy will deliver an awareness level on a scale that is unprecedented,” he added.

A second airing of the episode will take place on Monday, Aug. 13 at 9 p.m. EST, one night before its premiere on The Comedy Network at 10 p.m.

CTV will also be offering the pilot episode on demand across CTV’s digital platforms, such as CTV.ca, the CTV app, CTV Mobile, on Bell Mobile TV, as well as through the network’s on-demand cable partners.
