Degrassi: The Next Generation shoots cameo with Chaz Bono
Cher's daughter, who transitioned from Chastity Bono into a male, appears in a scene with Adam Torres, a transgender character on the Canadian teen TV show.
Indie producer Epitome Pictures secured Chaz Bono for a cameo role on Degrassi: The Next Generation, now shooting in Toronto.
Bono, who performed the role of a judge of a battle of the bands contest involving Adam Torres, a transitioning female-to-male (FTM) transgender character on the Canadian teen TV show played by Jordan Todosey, originally met the Degrassi producers at last year’s Emmy Awards.
Bono, who went through a FTM transgender makeover of his own, had dinner with Degrassi producers Linda Schuyler and Stephen Stohn and Todosey after the awards show in September 2011 and expressed his appreciation for a transgender character being written into the Canadian TV show.
It wasn’t long before the Degrassi writers, penning the MuchMusic series’ 12th season, fashioned a cameo role where Bono could play himself in a scene with Torres.
Degrassi also airs stateside on Teen Nick.
