ABC and Global Television renew Rookie Blue for fourth season

The latest cycle of the Canadian drama about rookie cops is in development, with production set to start in Toronto on Aug. 20.

ABC signaling it wants more of the Canadian drama Rookie Blue was quickly followed with Global Television putting in its fourth season order as well.

The series starring Missy Peregrym and Gregory Smith received its latest season renewal from both networks Tuesday.

The Entertainment One and ICF Film drama about five rookie cops is set to start production in Toronto in August, with Tassie Cameron, Ilana Frank, David Wellington and John Morayniss executive producing.

Rookie Blue‘s fourth season renewal in simulcast is unprecedented territory for any Canadian original series, and we’re excited to lead the way,” Barbara Williams, senior VP of content at Shaw Media, said in a statement Tuesday.
