New Bell Lightbox film series gets Cameron Bailey as curator

The TIFF festival artistic director will join Noah Cowan to program a weekly subscription series focused mostly on foreign language film titles from around the world.

TIFF artistic directors Cameron Bailey and Noah Cowan are the latest curators of the weekly Reel Talk series at Bell Lightbox.

Bailey, who in March was named artistic director of the September TIFF festival, and Cowan, head of TIFF Bell Lightbox, will pick films for the new Reel Talk: Contemporary World Cinema subscription series on Sunday afternoons.

Jesse Wente, head of film programmes at TIFF Bell Lightbox, will continue to program the Reel Talk: Sneak Preview series.

Bailey last month exchanged his co-director title at TIFF for the new title of artistic director.

The title change, while not changing Bailey’s duties, did signal he was moving more from programming the September film festival to taking on more duties at Bell Lightbox, with its year-round activities.
