St. Onge’s Molly Maxwell starts production
Production is underway on writer-director Sara St. Onge’s debut feature, Molly Maxwell, about a 16-year-old girl at an alternative school having an affair with her young male teacher, stars Lola Tash (Rookie Blue) in the title role.
The film also stars Charlie Carrick, Krista Bridges and Rob Stewart.
Molly Maxwell was developed and financed under the Canadian Film Centre’s CFC Features program.
The indie film also raised $10,000 via an indigogo campaign, with the funds used for additional actors, set and prop elements.
Aeschylus Poulos, Mark Van de Van and John Nadalin are on board as producers.
Molly Maxwell is produced in association with Astral’s The Movie Network and Corus’ Movie Central.
EOne will handle international sales and distribution.
The film will shoot from Apr. 13 through to May 6, and is slated for release next year.
