A Little Bit Zombie gets distribution deal with Anchor Bay

The company signed the rights for the Canadian home entertainment market to the horror comedy film from director and producer Casey Walker.

Rom zom com A Little Bit Zombie is getting life in the Canadian home entertainment market from Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada.

Anchor Bay secured the DVD rights to the film, the debut of director and producer Casey Walker of Cave Painting Pictures, at the Canadian Film Festival in Toronto, where the film won for best feature.

The Sudbury-filmed A Little Bit Zombie stars Crystal Lowe (Hot Tub Time Machine), Kristopher Turner, Shawn Roberts (Resident Evil: Afterlife), Kristin Hager and Stephen McHattie (Watchmen).

“This is further proof that the independent genre filmmaking community in Ontario is a force to be reckoned with,” said Rob Herholz, Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada general manager, in a statement.

Walker crowd-sourced financing for the film through a My Million Dollar Movie campaign, on top of securing additional funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.

The film was also chosen as the Canadian gala pic at the February Victoria Film Festival in B.C.

The original screenplay is co-written by Evil Dead: The Musical creator Christopher Bond and Trevor Martin. John Griffith is co-producer with Kevin C.W. Wong as cinematographer.
