It’s official: FremantleMedia acquires Recipe to Riches format rights

FremantleMedia Enterprises is to represent the worldwide brand licensing rights to Temple Street Productions’ Recipe to Riches reality TV series, as part of a format deal made official Wednesday.

John Young, managing director at Temple Street Productions, on Tuesday told Playback Daily that FremantleMedia will start shopping the Food Network Canada reality series at MIPTV as it takes the Canadian series into the international marketplace.

Unveiling the international format deal Wednesday, David Ellender, FremantleMedia Enterprises’ global CEO in a statement said Recipe to Riches had “huge commercial potential, particularly across sponsorship, consumer products, interactive and live events,” as he underscored the show’s branded content prospects.

FremantleMedia will work closely with Temple Street Productions to combine retailers and sponsors in foreign markets that acquire the format, as well as develop brand extensions through social media and live events to drive audience participation.

Recipe to Riches, created by Temple Street, has home cooks battle for a cash prize and the chance to have their original recipe chosen and sold nationwide in a supermarket chain.

In Canada, Loblaw sponsors the original Recipe to Riches series, which is now entering its second season with Shaw Media.

FremantleMedia, a major player in the global format market, also licenses into the world market local versions of Idols, Got Talent, The X Factor and The Price is Right.
