Canada’s Got Talent to premiere in March
Rogers Media today revealed the broadcast details behind Canada’s Got Talent, its much-hyped new series based on the successful American format.
The 11-week, 22-ep series will debut on Citytv channels nationwide Sunday March 4 at 8 p.m., and will be followed up each week by another new episode on Monday at 7 p.m. (all times local); Sundays will feature performances while Mondays will feature results.
Canada’s Got Talent is based on an elimination format in which contestants showcase their talent in front of a panel of judges for the chance to move forward in the series and ultimately vie for the chance to win a Nissan GT-R. Nissan is also sponsoring an online offshoot of the series, the YouTube Last Chance Auditions, which will see popular acts from online auditions make it into the series.
The judging panel, announced earlier this winter, includes Canadian celebs Martin Short, Measha Brueggergosman and Stephan Moccio.
The live results episodes begin April 3 and the live season finale will air May 14.
Canada’s Got Talent is produced by Toronto-based Insight Productions and is based on global format created by FremantleMedia.
