SnagFilms hires Sean Farnel
Sean Farnel (pictured), the former director of programming for Hot Docs, has joined online documentary streaming website SnagFilms as an acquisitions consultant.
Farnel stepped down from the head programming role at the Canadian festival last June, after six years with the organization. Prior to Hot Docs, Farnel was a staff programmer at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Andrew Mer, SnagFilms VP of content partnerships, said: “Sean’s talent and expertise is well known throughout the industry. He will be an outstanding addition to our acquisitions staff.”
Farnel added: “Given their steady commitment to documentary, I’m delighted for the opportunity to bring a film festival programmer’s unique perspective to SnagFilms and deepen the curation that drives the company’s acquisition strategy.”
