CTV News exec Joanne MacDonald to oversee CP24
More promotions in the CTV newsroom: Joanne MacDonald, a longtime VP of news under Robert Hurst, is adding the job of general manager of CP24 to her duties.
The move was announced Thursday by CTV News president Wendy Freeman, who succeeded Hurst when he stepped down as head of CTV News in late 2010 and retired after 38 years with the network.
MacDonald, as VP of news and general manager of CP24, will oversee the day-to-day running of the CP24 all-news channel as it gets set to compete this fall against an upstart CityNews Channel to be launched by rival Rogers Media.
