Mass Effect 2 cleans up at Canadian Videogame Awards
Mass Effect 2 dominated the Canadian Videogame Awards Thursday night in Vancouver, taking home four trophies, including Canadian game of the year.
The intergalactic shooting game, created by Electronic Arts’ Edmonton studio BioWare, also won for best console game, best game design and best game writing.
Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood from Ubisoft Montreal took home two awards at the industry kudosfest, for best game audio and best visual arts.
Other award winners: Osmos for the iPad from Hemisphere Games won for best on-the-go game, while the best downloadable game trophy went to DeathSpank, from Hothead Games and publisher Electronic Arts.
New awards for 2011 included best student game won by WOMP!, from the Centre for Digital Media, and the Innovation Award for ModNation Racers, developed by United Front Games.
A 60-minute TV special on the Canadian Videogame Awards will be broadcast on the gaming channel G4 Canada on May 29.
